Giveaway rules

No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning.

1. Who runs it

Giveaways are run by Menjitsu (menjitsu.com) (“Menjitsu”). Where a giveaway names a sponsor, that sponsor provides the prize and Menjitsu runs the entry and the draw. Questions: [email protected].

2. Who can enter

Each giveaway is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, and of the United Kingdom, who are 18 or older (or the age of majority where they live, if that is higher) when they opt in. Menjitsu’s administrators and moderators, employees of a giveaway’s sponsor, and members of their immediate families and households can’t enter. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

3. Entry period

Each giveaway opens and closes at the times shown on the giveaways page, in US Eastern Time. Contributions made outside that window don’t earn bonus entries for it.

4. How to enter

Create a free Menjitsu account, choose a username, and opt in to giveaways from the giveaways page or your account, confirming your age and country. While you’re opted in you are entered into every giveaway automatically. You can opt out at any time; if you opt out before a giveaway closes, you aren’t entered in it.

Everyone who is opted in receives 1 entry per giveaway. Members can earn bonus entries for contributions made while that giveaway is open, up to 10 entries in total:

• Start a topic: 1 entry, up to 3.
• Every 3 replies: 1 entry, up to 3.
• A fit tip published in Selvedge 101: 2 entries, up to 4.
• Log a pair you own, with a photo: 1 entry, up to 3.

Contributions must follow the community guidelines. Posts that are deleted (by you or by a moderator) and tips that aren’t published don’t count. Members who are barred from posting can’t win.

One account per person. Using more than one account, automated or fake activity, or any other attempt to game the entries will disqualify you.

5. The draw

Within 7 days after a giveaway closes, Menjitsu draws one winner at random from all eligible entries, using a cryptographically secure random number. Each entry is one chance, so a member with 4 entries is four times as likely to win as a member with 1. Your odds depend on the number of eligible entries received.

6. Winning

We email the winner at the address on their Menjitsu account. To claim the prize, the winner must reply within 14 days with their name and a shipping address in their country of residence, and may be asked to confirm their age and eligibility. If a winner doesn’t reply in time, can’t be verified as eligible, or declines the prize, it is forfeited and another winner is drawn from the remaining entries.

7. The prize

The prize and its approximate retail value are described on each giveaway. Where the prize is a pair of jeans, the winner chooses the size. Shipping to the winner’s address in the US or UK is included. The prize can’t be transferred or exchanged for cash. If a prize becomes unavailable, Menjitsu or the sponsor may substitute one of equal or greater value. The winner is responsible for any taxes or import duties on the prize.

8. Publicity and privacy

By entering, you agree that if you win, your Menjitsu username and profile picture may be shown on the giveaways page as the winner. We use your details only to run the giveaway and deliver the prize; see our privacy notice. The winner’s details are shared with a sponsor only when the sponsor ships the prize.

9. General

Menjitsu may cancel, suspend or change a giveaway if fraud, technical problems or anything else beyond our control affects its fairness, and in that case may draw from eligible entries received up to that point. Menjitsu isn’t responsible for entries or emails lost through technical failures. Menjitsu’s decisions on eligibility and the draw are final. These rules don’t affect your statutory rights.
